Sweet California Meyer Lemon. This tree always has something going on, either it is in fruit or flower and sometimes both. It thrives in nearly every climate, as long as it is brought indoors before freezing. Evergreen leaves with wonderful fragrant large size fruit. Spectacular array of purplish-white flowers with a wonderful aromatic scent. The Meyer Lemon is a cross between a true lemon and a Mandarin orange. Also known as Green Island Ficus. Has oval to roundish dark green shiny leaves. Easily forms rosetts at the end of its branches if kept trimmed. Branches and fruits well and easily develops aerial roots when kept humid. Different than other Ficus varieties in that the leaves are much thicker. Does well in lower, medium or high lighting conditions. Ours has exposed roots growing over a textured rock and down into the soil. One of our favorites. Very easy indoor maintenance.
Native to Korea, China and Japan. Full size leaves are 2" but reduce nicely as bonsai to create this attractive forest-like setting. The Bald Cypress grows in many areas of Florida and Louisiana particularly in swampy areas. The Bald Cypress has been designated the official tree of the state of Louisiana. The bark is fibrous and has a reddish-brown color with small flat ridges and shallow furrows. The leaves of the Bald Cypress are deciduous and spread in flat planes in a feathery pattern on its branchlets. Ours is grown from seed.

The Italian Cypress or Mediterranean Cypress is a great indoor bonsai tree which can be grown singularly or in groups. Originally found in the eastern Mediteranean area, this bonsai is susceptible to the cold which means that either you must bring it indoors during the winter or grow it in a fairly warm climate. They feature fine green/gray foliage which actually grows in flattened sprays. They also grow "cool looking" tiny elongated brown cones during the year, something that is somewhat rare in bonsai.
Winter Jasmine is native to western China and has been cultivated in the West since the mid 1800's. It has bright, glossy, green pinnate leaves divided into 3 oblong leaflets. We grow this winter hardy, vine-like shrub into tree form. Before the foliage appears this flowering beauty bears 1" bright yellow blooms at the base of its stems and slowly blooms up the stems. By late winter it flowers at the tips of the stems. Branches will root and produce new plants where trailing branches touch moist soil. Deciduous. Keep outdoors.

Native to St. Croix, Trinidad and Curacao. The name Malpighia is used to honor Marcello Malpighia (1628-1693). He was a distinguished naturalist in Bologna, Italy. The natural form of the Barbados Cherry is Pendulous with weeping twigs and branches. The flowers are rose-pink, often several together in a cyme. Its fruit is small and it has a weeping growth habit if the branches are allowed to elongate. The round inedible fruits are borne singly or in 2's or 3's and are bright red with glossy skin. The fruit is very juicy and extremely high in ascorbic acid. Great indoor bonsai.
